Festival Young Company

"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers."

The annual summer Richmond Shakespeare Festival Young Company is a boot camp for actors, ages 14-18, to learn about and perform Shakespeare.

Students are chosen through an audition process early in the year. They then train* for three months with Richmond Shakespeare actor/teachers in bringing Shakespeare's works to life. Students learn and memorize various scenes and monologues; they also gradually start to inhabit Elizabethan space by learning how to speak and act Elizabethan.

During the summer Richmond Shakespeare Festival, FYC members use their talents in theater, music, and/or dance to entertain the picnickers on the glorious grounds of the festival's home at Agecroft Hall , a manor house that stood in England during Shakespeare's time.

FYC provides valuable experience for future actors--use it to build your resume, and have fun at the same time!

* tuition required.
